When you ask a man if he has seen a romantic comedy there are always two answers: it was passing on the TV on a Sunday night or my girlfriend dragged me to see it. Don´t read this in the stereotypical way but as a fact that in general most women are attracted to this type of genre. When a man talks about a romantic comedy he refers to it as the dream of a woman. There is where everything goes wrong, women never dream of living that in real life.
Are you sure we want this?
As I said before romantic comedies are targeted for women. Creating an inflated image in men´s head that they are watching a woman’s deep fantasy. The thing is, most of the time the plot is around a beautiful successful woman settling for a man that portrays himself as a loser. Not only that man doesn´t have to make great effort to be with her but he is nothing like her. Basically it is the story of men living the dream and women giving up on prior goals to be with the man they didn’t want at first. Does this sound as a goal for a woman or the dream for a man?
Marriage is boring
These movies always make weddings beautiful and in love. They show young couples crazy for each other yet once they are married everything just fades away. Married couples are portrayed as boring and unsexy. When they are getting married they focus on women trying to get fit, happy with every detail of the wedding yet distracted with the why they are getting married. Showing superficial women that are more interested in what others see. The only time we see the man in this wedding situation is in their bachelorette party. This just shows that women have to do everything, are basically Godzilla’s and men are relaxed wanting the last escape. I repeat, is this really a woman’s dream?
It is ok if they are only romantic once
Most movies show a complete disagreement in ideas between men and women. They never really understand each other so they just live in stereotypical ideas of each sex. The plot always drives the man doing something he shouldn’t but in the end he does one romantic thing so everything is ok. This romantic thing normally is the cliché dream of what people think is seen as romantic or they miraculously remember what the woman has been telling all this time and do it.
Women need to be perfect
From complete makeovers to flawless aesthetic, women always need to be perfect for the man. Men are always sloppy, fat, scrubby characters yet women are models at all times. When a woman is sad you can only see that by her changing her aesthetic and men wondering why. Yet in their daily life they need to be the perfect real life poster for him.

Lets think about this together, women need to be organizing freaks, beautiful models, settle down for less and be ok with a man that doesn´t work in the relationship until it is nearly ending. These are the normal standards in movies like this. However men still believe this is what we want. Would you want this?
