A few weeks ago an image of Santo Domingo went viral. This was titled as plastic emergency alert and it showed a sea of plastic. Waves of waste where you could only see this water contaminated with pollution. More than 500 public workers were placed for this cleanup operation. Are you ok with this? So I will repeat my question; why don´t you recycle?

To recycle should be a law

Why? Because if people aren´t obligated they will be too lazy to do so. Most humans only actually worry when the consequences start to attack. We all should be contributing to a better world in every way we can. Don´t read this as a hippie movement but as a hard truth. If you don´t want to help those around you, those that haven´t yet been born then help yourself. Pollution won´t just attack others, it will attack you too.

Not convinced yet?

I have heard some people say that recycling is a myth. Pollution is a conspiracy theory and at least the world is ok until we die. This is not only uncultured but the most egocentric thing to say. Well if you don´t believe me then let’s talk facts. Do you feel the climate change? The seasons are appearing skipping to the wrong months, the ice caps are melting and the sun is even more dangerous. Do you see this absurdity in our food? Huge vibrant fruit that tastes like nothing. Can you see the polluted air? Well, there has been a drastic increase of respiratory diseases. The list goes on because we are not fighting this. Earth is attacking us like a self-immune system because we are hurting her.

Reduce, Reuse and Recycle

Yes, I know you have heard about this before but maybe you just need to hear it again. So here is an easy guide to recycling.

  1. Have the right recycle bins in your home, plastic, glass, paper and indifferent (organic)

If you want to put an effort:

  1. Buy recyclable products
  2. Buy products that have been made from recycled materials
  3. Items such as furniture can be resold instead of thrown into the trash
  4. Plant trees (there is a saying that says in life you have to at least plant one tree)
  5. Only buy hazardous material if you really need to
  6. Buy food from local farmers
  7. Pass the message
