Before our 18th birthday, we have to decide what our job will be for the rest of our lives. When we finally are 18, a magical transformation happens, and we become superior human beings, also known as adults. So what is an adult? What is expected to become a functional independent adult?
1. Has life goals (mainly work focused)
When you are 21/22, you have to know what you want to do for the rest of your life. If you dare question what you want to be or do, they will crucify you. When you have your first work experience you can’t back out of your destiny because that will just be a lack of responsibility and you will have no career or respect.
So imagine you have always dreamed of becoming a doctor. You study at the university, get your degree and white coat; however, when you look at the mirror, you realize that has never been what you wanted. Instead, it is what your parents told you to do. So what do you do? Well if you go by our society rules, you will just have to be an adult.
2. Knows how to cook (well!)
At 18 we must wake up and become international chef’s. Forget survival food because if you only know a few recipes, you will never die. People’s track of thought goes like this: doesn’t cook – no friends – no marriage – dies with 100 cats that need to feed themselves. To be able to cook will help you a lot, but not all of us have the skills.
3. If you have any interest in the arts, it only is a hobby
Adults don’t fool around with subjects that will not make them earn buckets of gold coins. If you have a gift in expressing yourself artistically, you must not pursue it or you are asking to be poor and live with your parents until you die. Real adults must be doctors, lawyers or managers.
There is a saying that you must do what you love and you will never have to work a day in your life although in small print it says that if what you love is artistic then you will have to work 1000 part times.
4. Has a job as soon as they get out of university
Competition? if you are good enough, you will find a job (said no teacher or graduate ever). How do people think like this? we are brainwashed to believe real humans will immediately find a job as they graduate because if you try, you achieve. Nowadays, degree´s are losing their value.
5. Talks in a formal way
Adults aren’t funny, sorry (just go memorize the thesaurus).
6. Have to understand politics in depth
If not, then you have failed as a person and do not know how to be a human being. As we grow up, we are judged by the amount and quality of the information we have stored in our brains. It must be a library of political, economic and historical information. Every other type of information is useless.
7. You must be an overnight success
No pressure because this is very realistic…
So basically if you haven’t checked everything I am sorry to inform you but in our society, you are a child. Fair?
